Not So Perfect Cutting Boards
SHIPPING & RETURNS
Shipping:
Since your board is customized, estimated ship times are 1-2 weeks after purchase, depending on current inventory. If we are building a custom board then the ship time is 3-4 weeks from placing your order. Most orders are shipped out in 2-3 business days after the order is completed. You will receive tracking information once your order ships. If you need to make adjustments to an order this must be done within 24 hours after placing the order by emailing help@boardsbyjersey.com. We use Pirate Ship for all of our shipping which calculates the best possible rate using UPS, USPS or Fed Ex. We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages, and damages occurred during shipping. Please contact the shipping company to file a claim. We only ship to the continental United States and we do not ship internationally.
Returns:
Due to each board being handcrafted, Boards By Jersey does not accept returns. We believe in doing things right the first time, so much so that we know you will love your board once it is unboxed and being used. We also believe in providing excellent customer service. In the event you are not satisfied with your product, please contact us at help@boardsbyjersey.com.
Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon receiving it and contact us immediately at help@boardsbyjersey.com if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right. You might be required to file a claim on damaged packages.

Board Care
CLEANING:
After each use, hand clean your board using a soft, wet sponge or cloth using a small amount of dish soap. Wipe the board dry with a towel and let it air dry. You can stand it up on its side or place it on a wire rack if you do not have feet on your board. It is important to ensure your board is completely dry after cleaning. Water will permeate the wood which can cause the board to swell and warp.
DEOTORIZING YOUR BOARD:
Since your board is used for cutting all types of things, sometimes unpleasant smells are just going to happen. We recommend using an all-natural method of salt and lemons. Simply sprinkle salt (any type will do) over the cutting board, cut a lemon in half, squeeze some of the juice over the board and rub the salt into the board using the lemon halves. Let that sit for 20-30 minutes then rinse off using the cleaning steps above.
CONDITIONING: (board should be completely dry)
Apply a scoop of “Board Shmoo” using a soft dry cloth to form a thin coat. Let the conditioner soak in for at least an hour, wipe off excess with a soft cloth. Repeat if necessary. Do not use the board for 24-48 hours after conditioning to allow the board to thoroughly cure. Repeat this step monthly.
IMPORTANT TIPS:
- Quickly wipe off standing water
- Do not put in the dishwasher
- Do not submerge or soak in water
- Do use bleach
- Store indoors
- Avoid cutting in the same location on the board
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONING:
If your board becomes really dry you can use Food Safe Mineral Oil to help keep your board looking fresh. Apply a generous amount and let it soak into board. Wipe off excess and wait approximately 72 hours before using your board. You would follow up with the “Board Shmoo” after this step, or a natural Food Safe board conditioner. (organic oils are not recommended, i.e., vegetable oil, peanut oil, avocado oil, etc.) The only other oil you can use is coconut oil however, it should not be used often.
DEEP SCRATCHES:
If you have deep scratches, you can sand your board, if you are comfortable with this process. Simply use a course and fine grit sandpaper with a sanding block. (we recommend a 150 grit then a 320 grit) Sand along the grains of your board until you feel it is smooth and looks even. Wipe off the dust and follow the cleaning and conditioning steps above. (You can lightly wet the board after the coarse sanding, let it dry and then sand with the fine sandpaper as your final step. This process raises the grain to get a smoother finish.)
